All you have to do is read the meter like the mileage
odometer of a car. Every time the number increases, that is another
kilowatt-hour used. It's no mystery! To get better at it, go outside
to your home or business and write down the readings around the same
time for several days in a row.
By subtracting yesterday's reading from today's reading, you get an
idea how much energy (kilowatt-hours) you use each day.

Electricity is measured by kilowatt-hours. For example, a 100 watt
light bulb burning for 10 hours uses 1 kilowatt-hour. Your electric
meter keeps track of how many kilowatt-hours you are using.
